Retreat @ home

This project was a ground up creation for a family that wanted a space to hang out and relax that was still close to the house and indoor areas. Our scope included all built forms and softscapes, including a pergola with a swinging daybed, a small spa pool, custom fire table, patios and plantings.

We used a theme of metal and stone for the pergola that worked to match the detailing of the home. The daybed is suspended on rods for the ability to softly sway in the wind. The view from this shelter is out over native and adapted plantings that soften the slope and the build up to the house. It was important that the plantings were allowed to integrate with the space to provide greenery and so that the occupants could benefit from the refuge that nature creates.

A fire table was designed to double as a space for drinks when not in use- the top expands to allow for the fire when needed. The overall effect and vibe is one of calm and an integration back to nature.
