RETURNING TO NATIVE

Keeping this house cozy and snug in the hillside was a key goal and outcome for this Idaho home. 

The challenge to achieve this was getting outdoor access to the front door which was a full 20 plus feet above the street access. Here we created a series of steps that related back to the architectural intent - and we made sure to add some interest on the way. Boulders to retain grade and native plantings fill in the gaps - making for a journey that is both relational to the surrounding vegetation as well as the steel concrete and basalt of the home.
