Cozy
When you can get time in the mountains you might as well make it count. This family had a goal of creating a place where they could have moments of calm but also easy places for simple entertaining and family gatherings. The house presented quite traditional – a take on an Adirondack lodge, and as such we chose reclaimed rustic granite for the patio spaces. This added age and rustic character – and was quite fun to source and work with. We used the stone also for the benches – no maintenance needed there…
For the bocci court we opted for a metal border- this allowed a respite from all the stone and offered a great place to tuck in hidden lighting that accents the court in the late evening. Summer nights being what they are out west – Idaho at least - the evenings are magical and being able to offer use well into the night is a lot of fun.
Getting to the river was also a key for this project – here we used a reclaimed barn board to create a boardwalk that goes from the mud room out to as near the river as possible. Lanterns and rustic flower pots (for small evergreens) round out the scene.
