Lakeside Zen      

A sculpture by Joy Brown takes a restful place. The bronze sits and takes in the view, as would you, in this pool in particular. Such a great spot above Lake Waramaug in Litchfield CT, just north of New York. As such this home became a true space of calm retreat. The hillside did offer a lot of challenge - we used the pool as a retaining wall to help get the grades to work and also to allow the infinity edge to work from inside the house. We created a purposefully narrow connection along the pool – this to connect delicately to the more private and calm side of the house, the opposite side being more for entertainment and hosting. Maybe the sculpture also appreciates that distance.
