    LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT

    With experience in gardening, the construction trades, and the arts, Ben brings a wide assortment of skills and background to each project. He believes that each garden and landscape design is best approached as a synthesis of both built/human influenced forms and those we find in nature: without one, it is often difficult to see the other. It's the combination of both that excites and motivates.

    Ben holds a Bachelor's degree from Cornell University in Landscape Architecture.

    LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT

    Co-heading the Sun Valley, Idaho office, Chase Gouley’s hands on approach and big picture vision brings great creativity and excitement to each design. Chase’s passion for design, onsite construction management, and collaborative effort allows for seamless installation and successful projects.

    Born and raised in Sun Valley Idaho, Chase spent most of his time outdoors. It was there he found his love for the land traveling throughout the Rocky Mountain range eventually landing in Bozeman Montana where he earned a Bachelor’s in Landscape Design and Horticulture. his moto is “It’s not about the design, it’s about the relationship created along the way.”

    Brent Jacobsen

    MT STUDIO DIRECTOR & SENIOR LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT

    Brent brings a background in fine art and a passion for ecology to create beautiful spaces connected to nature. He has worked across the country but is deeply invested in designing for the West including the Intermountain, Pacific Northwest, and California regions.

    An active member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, Brent has served on numerous national committees and is the current Climate Action Chair for the ASLA Idaho/Montana Chapter. Brent also serves as an advisor and guest critic at various educational institutions. Brent is a licensed landscape architect in Montana, Idaho, Colorado, Nevada and California.

  • Eric Meadows

    Eric Meadows

    SENIOR ASSOCIATE

    Eric joined BYLA in 2020, and is a licensed landscape architect in Montana and California. As studio leader for the Bozeman office, he enjoys all aspects of the design process from concept through project implementation. He has a diverse range of project experience from resorts and hospitality to parks and residential work.

    Eric holds a Master's in Landscape Architecture from University of Arizona.

  • Taylor Olson

    DESIGNER

    Taylor is a born and raised Californian who grew up drawing and wanting to create. Pursuing aeronautical engineering for much of his schooling until an elective course introduced him to the world of Landscape Architecture. Diving into the world that combines the creativity of a design-based workplace and the logic of production and construction of said designs. The learning environment of a collaborative studio and experienced industry professionals gave him an excitement in learning that was lacking in other subjects.

    Taylor interned at a Utah based design firm G. Brown Design in the summer of 2021. Subsequently Graduating in Spring of 2022 with a bachelor’s degree from the USU landscape architecture program.

  • Liam Houlihan

    DESIGNER

    Born and raised in Southern California Liam brings a new flavor of design to the BYLA team. Having grown up in the urban jungle of California, he grew a tremendous appreciation for the beauty of the natural landscape. This appreciation led him to travel up and down the west coast. During these trips he learned of his love for the Pacific Northwest. Liam eventually left California to study at Washington State University where he received his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture. After Graduating in 2022, Liam relocated to Ketchum to join the BYLA team.

  • Bowen Chai

    DESIGNER

    Graduating from Washington University in St. Louis with a Master Degree of Landscape Architecture and Urban Design, Bowen has devoted most of his academic career to the path of becoming a designer. Bowen believes that his job as the designer is, in addition to creating miracles, to get closer to what he loves and what he believes. Getting two master degrees allows Bowen to dive into different scales of a project and find the best fitting logic and solution for each one of the designs. With a strong understanding of water systems and ecological contexts, Bowen has developed his own understanding of the relationship between human and landscape and he carries it into each detail of the design.

  • Hayley Brant

    DESIGNER

    Hayley always aspired to find a career that merged art and science, and she felt like she hit the jackpot when she discovered landscape architecture. Her mission is to design healthy and sustainable spaces that offer others ongoing inspiration, healing, and a sense of purpose through their environment.

    Hayley holds a master’s in landscape architecture from The University of Texas at Austin as well as bachelor’s degrees in horticulture and resource economics from the University of Connecticut.

    Outside of landscape architecture, Hayley enjoys hiking, skiing, trying new food, and hanging out with her orange cat, Otis.

  • Zahra Salahshoor

    DESIGNER

    Zahra brings a unique blend of artistic passion and academic excellence to the BYLA team. Known for her love of nature and painting, she captures the beauty of flowers through her exquisite watercolor paintings and innovative landscape designs. Her artistic journey is deeply influenced by the interplay of art, geometry, history, and identity within each landscape context, driving her to explore and create meaningful outdoor spaces.

    Born and raised in the culturally and climatically diverse country of Iran, Zahra's multicultural background enriches her design perspective.

    Zahra holds a Master's degree in Landscape Architecture from Iowa State University and a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from her hometown.

  • Heather Hendrickson

    DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

    Heather joined BYLA in 2022 where she uses a ‘total quality management’ (TQM) approach to achieve efficiencies in project management.

    Heather previously implemented TQM for a multinational company, including training employees in the United States and Canada and performing on-site analyses of operations at several companies that have won awards for performance excellence.   

    Heather also applied TQM in her own business as a real estate owner/broker in her native Connecticut, where she combined home sales with a business in staging homes for sale. At BYLA, her staging skills are put to good use overseeing the selection and installation of outdoor furnishings and accessories for BYLA-designed landscapes.

    Heather, who holds bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Colorado, lived briefly in Sun Valley as a child. It has always been her dream to live and work here as an adult.
